13 Apr You are Beautiful and Unique
We live in a society that says in order to be beautiful you have to be a size 4, have a perfect
complexion, designer clothes, the right type of phone and the lot. But what does God say about all
this? I’ve always struggled with my own body image and confidence in myself until one day my mum gave
me a book called ‘Finding Out Who You Really Are’ and in it there was a verse from 1 Peter 3:3 which
“ Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the
wearing of gold jewellery or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the
unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.”
This verse has helped me through a lot of hard times and I have started to listen to what God says
about me rather than the world says about me because I fall short when it comes to the world
expectations. God treasures inner beauty which is out emotions, feelings, attitudes and if someone
says you have a beautiful spirit, it means that you are a kind loving person.
It also says in Psalm 139:13-16
“For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place,
when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be.”
God says we are beautiful and unique and once you realize that the only voice you need to listen to
is Gods, you will have a peace about self-image that everyone will want. Once I realized that God
says I’m beautiful and it doesn’t matter I started not caring what people thought. I am fearfully and
wonderfully made in the image of God, how good is that?!
So I want you to remember that God
loves you and he thinks you’re special. The Creator of the world, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords
